TRIED BY THE WORD
A prophetic Word for 2006
Until the time when His Word came to pass,
THE WORD OF THE LORD TRIED HIM!
The first time Word of the Lord appears in Scripture is Ge 15:1; then again in v.v. 4-5- which, with verse 6 reads, The Word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision saying, Fear not, Abram; I am your Shield and exceeding great Reward...then the Word of the Lord came again to him saying, Ishmael will not be your heir; but Isaac, who issues from your own loins, shall be your heir! Then God brought him out of his tent a distance and said, Now look up toward heaven and see if you can count the stars; that is how your seed shall be...and Abram believed the Lord; and the Lord accounted his belief as righteousness! Here is a simple, straightforward blueprint for attaining the righteousness of God: we have but to believe in the Lord!
Carnal-minded man may hope that the word he speaks will come to pass, but he cannot know it! However, when Jesus Christ speaks a Word, He knows that His Word has the power to bring it to pass! The words of natural man can only have an impact if God allows them to do so! For as David confessed to God, There is not a word in my tongue (speech, vocabulary), O Lord, that You do not know altogether! (Ps 139:4)
The flesh man lusts to have his words esteemed, quoted, remembered, bear weight, and make a difference in this world. When he dies, his name may be carved on a tombstone to memorialize ... and it is hoped, to immortalize his memory forever. But as Jesus clearly states, Heaven and earth (including all its graveyards and tombstones) will pass away, but My Words will not pass away! (Mt 24:35) When all is said and done, the only thing which shall remain is the Word of the Lord! That is why the major concern of believers should be to center their lives on the Word of the Lord!
This fleshly life lasts but a fleeting moment in time, before it returns to the dust from which it came; so it is vanity to seek glory for our mortal mass. True Eternal Life, for mankind, does not begin till The Father, by His own will, begets us with His Word of Truth! And by this we become a kind of firstfruits of His creatures! (Jas 1:18) Therefore, set your affections on things above, not on earthly things, for you are dead (in Christ) and your (true, eternal) Life is hid with Christ in God. Then when Christ, Who is our Life, shall appear, then you shall appear with Him in glory! Now, mortify, that is, put to death your fleshly members which dwell upon the earth! (Col 3:2-5)
Jesus said to His disciples, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you! But whoever
eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up
on the last day. For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
He that eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, dwells in me, and I in him. And
as the living Father has sent Me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats Me,
shall also live by Me. For this is that bread which came down from heaven:
not like the manna your fathers ate, and are now dead: but he that eats this
Bread shall live forever. Jesus said these things in the synagogue where He
taught in Capernaum. But when many of his disciples heard this, they said,
This is a hard saying; who can hear it? However Jesus knew within himself
that His disciples were murmuring at His Words; so He asked them, Does
this offend you? What, and if, you shall see the Son of man ascend up where
He was before? It is the Spirit that quickens to Life; the flesh profits nothing! The Words I speak to you are Spirit and Life! But there are some of you
that do not believe. But then Jesus knew from the beginning who would not
believe, and who should betray him! Then He said, That is why I say to you, no man can come to Me, unless it is given him by My Father! Thereafter,
many of his disciples went back and did not walk with Him anymore. Then
Jesus said to the twelve, Will you also go away? But Simon Peter answered,
Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of Eternal Life! And we
believe, and are sure, that You are that Christ, the Son of the living God! (Jn 6:53-69)
The question is, do we believe, and are we sure, that is has been given to us by the Father to walk this walk with Jesus Christ? Are we really prepared to eat His flesh (live His Life) and to drink His Blood (die His death)?! Baby believers love Christs first requisite of living His Life, especially when it means preaching to thousands, and working glorious miracles. But only mature believers can love the second condition of Christs edict to die His death on the Cross! To sacrifice their entire way of life in the flesh; to forsake every relationship with other people; and to surrender their very lives, if need be, for the sake of the Gospel, is only possible if it is given by the Father!
This is what separates the male (spirit-nature) from the female (soul-nature). This is how we know what is our true calling in Christ!
